haiku is three lines and grew from tanka..the japanese hundreds of years ago would have ritual renga competitons...poetry competitions..is that a kick? Anyway, tankas are 5 line poems that are like extended haiku 5-7-5-7-7 ZEXCEPT that tanka came first, and in renga competitions the haiku would connect the tankas. Eventually haiku grew to be its own form apart from renga. Kaile, I love the line "wishing blanket from santa". |

Kaile~ If I was Santa I would give you a big hug and perhaps a kiss underneath the mistletoe I'd be your blanket ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Sheer poetic beauty in this one and really digs deep into the meaning of sharing with family and finding the warmth of the season. Here is wishing you the warmest of blankets and the most wonderful love filled holidays one could hope for. |

Wonderful Christmas Tanka, kaile. Hopefully, there are plenty of blankets to go around. LW Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats |
