Fell out of high school in the late sixties grew my hair down long thought I was gifted. Split leather tassles long and soft to the man's world I brought new thoughts. Free love on call to corporate merchants protesting wars lacking purpose Freedom chants in a smoky blizzard with swords of love to fight the system. The grass and the sun and the flower child cried on the streets where the storm blows wild. Under the stars in the purple haze electric guitars and poets played. Same old war crimes stopped the building taking their toll on the helpless children. Into the mist small voices soared together sounding like a billion horns. With dust and rust on sacred plowshears Rockwell's pictures cried out in fear. But when the message reached the source Uncle Sam's henchmen changed thier course. Out of a nation clothed with steel came a story of passion over the field. Gears of destruction made a retreat the fashion for power suffered defeat. Imbibed with wrong imbibed with right democratic heroes died in their plight. And warriors of right left war torn fields to fall apart behind the family shield. The grass and the sun and the flower child cried on the streets where the storm blows wild. Under the stars in the purple haze electric guitars and poets played. I'll never know we how much of a part we played in stopping it! Maybe some?? Eventually I had to get a job and fit into the same system I was protesting against....or thought I was protesting against. Nevertheless it was a time I wouldn't trade for anything else....as Dylan says.."I was so much older then I'm younger than that now." |

This is wonderful sweet poet man...and who knows just how much you influenced the world...growing up...watching that war...seeing for myself just what it did to friends who went, but came back changed...or the ones who never came back at all...thank you for reminding me Ignore those who would clip your wings...fly ever upward...even if it means scorched wings |

The grass and the sun and the flower child cried on the streets where the storm blows wild. Under the stars in the purple haze electric guitars and poets played. ================= and when all else was forgotten or lost to the passing of time ... the music and the poetry remain...for it is constant. how much cooler can you be E-babes...way cool are you... love this rhyme of conscience ... the repetion of that verse was poetic perfection...and the imagery of that verse...is splendid ... sweet karma later-you-rock-in-your-rhyme-gator ![]() jm Sprayed across my heart and hers Danced butterflies in the wild This angel, this woman , who loves me with the innocence of a child. ~DeVante~ |

ethome...I love this portrait from your memory bank...this was particularly moving to me, considering my own, and others current mood of political apathy. You gave a damn...and I wish we could all find a piece of that caring. A wonderful think read for me, thank you. |

Prinny True, this is an absolutely fantastic and wonderful write. (I could lie and say I don't remember the 60's but I do I do) My childhood and my rather wild teens, I went to a girls school of course we were wild. Really excellant work from you, utterly superb. Take care Mushy (I am going to have to find a nickname for you, but for now Prinny True will do.) Take back the hope you gave,- I claim Only a memory of the same Robert Browning |

Goodness ethome, this certainly elicted some memories... how could any action not have caused a reaction? You may not have changed things, but you certainly did not allow them to stay the same... any one voice causes a ripple... and once again, I am in awe of your pen....< !signature--> Karilea If I whisper, will you listen?... I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound. KRJ [This message has been edited by Sunshine (edited 11-28-2000).] |

I am simply in awe here Ethome! What a wonderful journey you've penned. It's fascinating to travel back and wonder just how much effect our early efforts may have made in the grander scheme of things ... and you my friend were there, with flowers in your long hair. Wonderful contribution then ... and "now" ... I loved this! ![]() Best wishes, /Kit |

Well here you are and of course the first thing you do is remind me of my age. *giggling* Now to business. This is a poem that brought many memories to me. The pain and joy of that time was almost beyond understanding. Dear one, you have put it beautifully in your wonderful words. Yes, each one made a difference at that time for without each one that became many there would have been none. Hugs, my friend, so very happy to have found you again. Love I leave with you my friend whether it be in your life or of yet the essense of your dreams. [URL=http://path2riches.com]http://path2riches.com |
