The Kind you Can’t Blow Out

You know how I love a slivered moon
nestled in the horizon
like the curved side of forever

It says look beyond what you see
and see the circle still and even better
shadowed in grace

Continuance bubbles and does not break
but changes ache to smile and breath to sigh
and we can even measure it with the beat of the drum
that foretells dance from shore to desert sand
and fills the minute with meter
and this is evidence of the sprit of forever
is it not

The slivered moon

maybe you don’t know
how it makes me brand new
yet ancient in some layered time
that has whispered in dreams
of many moons and time that is fluid
yet light as air
and where color has no name
and a song sings itself

Is this the place where
grace is born

I have felt it simmer in my heart
and I hear its laced call
that fills all my listening
as a child whispers her laughter
down the stairs of knowing

and so I just know
that love never dies
and that souls hold all the candles
and they are the kind
you can’t blow out

You are NOT going to get me to say I like this one better than the Ethereal Music...you are NOT! I will fight it with all my might!

But, jeez, MArtie, those last lines are probably the best lines I've seen end a poem... in many slivered moons! This is SO well-done....

Ah Martie, you moon dancer, you...

Karilea
If I whisper, will you listen?...
I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound.

Martie~
I was waiting for this.
When I was leaving work tonight -
I said, "There's a Martie moon."
A tiny slice of inspiration - and she'll write of it.

'The slivered moon

maybe you don’t know
how it makes me brand new
yet ancient in some layered time
that has whispered in dreams
of many moons and time that is fluid
yet light as air
and where color has no name
and a song sings itself'

You did with such grace that it may become
my new favorite -
until you write the next one.

This is just sooooooooooo beautiful.
I will print it and share it with friends tomorrow.
I love you, my friend.

did you just KNOW how much I needed this tonight...
I have not looked at the moon the same since first reading your luna tributes ...
and this one takes that to a new level of awe
this is pure unadulterated poetic heaven
and it quiets my ache that needed to be held...

>"Continuance bubbles and does not break
but changes ache to smile and breath to sigh<"

that is one of the most poetically perfect lines and one of the coolest my eyes have danced upon...

>"and so I just know
that love never dies

and for this verse of grace I will simply say thank you for and you will already know why.
I take this poem, and your moon and the quiet comfort I found in your grace of verse
to bed with me tonite.
thank you for that as well.
love you poet of exception

Sprayed across my heart and hers
Danced butterflies in the wild
This angel, this woman ,
who loves me with the innocence of a child.

Martie*
This is so amazing! Your words glide like
silk and touch my heart with their softness
and beauty. What a gift you hold in the ink
well of your heart...we are truly blessed
that you share it with us~

excuse me one sec martie:

Marge quote:

quote:
When I was leaving work tonight -

what marge - you WORK as well!!! geez

~~~~~~~
ok martie - sorry couldn't resist that - humm where was i ...yep the poem...
going against the flow here a bit i suppose when i say that although i liked it, i liked the sound and flow of it more than the content - although the second stanza was exceptional.  I guess it's just my old prejudice against souls and moons (slivered or not) - which is kinda hypocritical seeing as i just wrote something which ended with the word moon .....lol - well there ya go
You my friend OWN the images of nature and the path to total enlightment.  Gawd this is so lovely.  I could never tell you in mere words the beauty of this one and it has so many lines in it that could rewrite and make poetic history on their own that I am left in total awe.  This one is the perfect one to take me to bed tonight whether I sleep or not.
needed to read this amazing poem again...
each time I do..I see something more in it and find more of the me I've lost along the way...
thank you for that ... and for allowing me to climb your "stairs of knowing"
me
This distance has shown how the road remains alone
Now I'm looking in my life ... for a truth that is my own.
