Preparation Virginia Salter “Through the years we all will be together if the fates allow,” floats on the autumn breeze, wafts past my ears, causing me to look behind at memories of years. Grandma, Grandpa, aunts and uncles cousins by the score many of the family’s gone now through the veil or out the door. Fates, yes fates could I blame for consequence or nature’s ways. If I would dwell upon them, I could sabotage my days. Yet as I stroll, can’t help but wonder if those gone are here somehow, as the leaves that don the sidewalk with their glorious colors now. Then my mind drifts to heaven where the saints do sing their praise to the Lord of Christmas present and the ones of future days. I can’t help but thrill to think of all His children dancing joy far across the stars of heaven lifting up their one bright voice. Could they be there with the angels truly knowing Christmas ways, and the reason for the giving on the most of glorious days? May it be so, Lord of heaven, may they know You truly now. May Your words be clear as crystal and reward for heartfelt vow. And as I spend these hours think and plan the holidays, may I know You now more dearly follow more sure Your ways. © November 24, 2000 I can't think of the name of the song I was hearing while on my walk this afternoon; the one with the words quoted above. |

It's "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"!!! I love that song, and I love this poem. It is that time again, isn't it? Christmas always brings back memories of those who have passed. You describe the vast mixture of feelings very well. Thanks for posting. "Where there is great love there are always miracles" -Cather "Love heals everything, and love is all there is"- Zukav |

Thanks, so much, Love Bug! Glad you enjoyed and chose to comment. That's one of my favorite Christmas songs, too, I just couldn't get the title to come to mind. Thanks for the help in that. Thanks, too, for your lovely comment on my poem. Virginia |
