These four walls combine me to this minute space time after time. I only wish it was mine. I slowly pause and take a breath. I take it all in. I don't feel so pinned. I smile softly to the little girl who passes me by with tears in her eyes. She whispers "Mommy, can I be that?" she points at the lady sitting on the bench. She replys ever so softly "Baby, she has no where to go. All her family abandoned her." Her nose wrinkles up from the stench. And yet ever so boldly, I watch with the eyes of a stoic, the little girl goes up and smiles and says" Mame, I am sorry for your loss." and with that she gave her a hug. With a gleam in her eye and tear drop behind her heart. She felt she was not a bug. With the misery in her heart, she felt she needed to part. No more blissful thinking or waiting until tomorrow. She needed to be wanted. she wanted no more sorrow. The act of self destruction she walked on. D o w n Past the bridge to the dock. she whispered ever so softly knowing the little girl will hear her call " Don't worry I'll be back." And with that she was gone with the wind. The Little girl nodded her head ever so slightly and a smile pressed her lips. [This message has been edited by BirdeeB (edited 11-24-2000).] |

BirdeeB~ This is simply a heart-touching write. Wonderful work it is ! Thank you so much for sharing it. I believe it reaffirms the fact that even the smallest gesture of love and friendship can change lives. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |
