Only But a Beam of Light Once the mist has disappeared When the air has all been cleared You can see the mountain’s rim Gleaming sun on snow-filled brim Glorious majestic height In the smooth of snowy white Beams the sunset through a wedge In horizon’s crescent edge This is but a ray of hope Slicing past the frozen slope It’s the dream to which I cling Until the thawing of the spring Everyone should have in sight Only but a beam of light A dream to seek while anchored fast And waiting til the season's passed Elizabeth Santos |

You knew, Lady Santos, that this one would be treasured by many, but especially by one... and into my library on the shelf with your name... |

A beam of light as an anchor to hold on to... I see clearly the hope in this beautiful poem. Wonderful writing as usual! Deb |

Liz, I agree with you 100%. That little beam of light reflects the ray of hope that always exists even in the most dismal of situations. Well said! LW Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats |
