Only But a Beam of Light Once the mist has disappeared When the air has all been cleared You can see the mountain’s rim Gleaming sun on snow-filled brim Glorious majestic height In the smooth of snowy white Beams the sunset through a wedge In horizon’s crescent edge This is but a ray of hope Slicing past the frozen slope It’s the dream to which I cling Until the thawing of the spring Everyone should have in sight Only but a beam of light A dream to seek while anchored fast And waiting til the season's passed Elizabeth Santos |

You knew, Lady Santos, that this one would be treasured by many, but especially by one... and into my library on the shelf with your name... |

Liz, I agree with you 100%. That little beam of light reflects the ray of hope that always exists even in the most dismal of situations. Well said! ![]() LW Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats |
