Memories Of Tomorrow

Tonight we begin our memories of tomorrow
No longer looking back at yesterday's sorrow
Reflecting on the dance that brought us here
Captivated in the melodies of new love's cheer

Sitting here with your touch resting on my arm
I realize the power encased in all of your charm
Swirls of mahogany waltz in aromatic illusion
Hypnotizing the fears of my heart's confusion

Embers of promise glow among forgotten ash
Embraced within the flames of eternity's sash
Fingerprints of warmth reach heightened peak
As blushing roses caress your silkened cheek

Flickering shadows frolic on a wall of brick
Rejoicing ... knowing we need not go quick
Luminance sings upon the depth of our eyes
With a chorus wrapped in a ribbon of sighs

Tonight we begin our memories of tomorrow
No longer looking back at yesterday's sorrow
Reflecting on the dance that brought us here
Captivated in the melodies of new love's cheer

we didnt need a picture to tell us what this one was about, your gift for painting images in our minds that I have admired from the first poem read of yours ... once again beautifully illustrated the romantic scene by fireside.
But the imagery comes in second to the anticipation and promise this beautiful poem speaks of.
Its perfect MC.
The repeating of the verses gave it a melody.

"No longer looking back at yesterday's sorrow
Reflecting on the dance that brought us here"

I think that says it all.
Speaks volumes ... but in a soft whispered promise.
nothing more needs be said .. from me anyway

Am I loved by my words
Will my vows weather the tide
Bended knees can forsee
all the rhythms of life
And a heart can be held without pride

Mark, lovely! Romantic! Sweet!

It has me contemplating a verse of my own on this theme.  It would be a universal one, not tied to a relationship or love.  Well, at least I think it would be.  My poems often go where I'm not expecting.

Thanks for sharing!btw, do you mind if I do?

Charisma-Thank you my friend. It is easy to pen beauty when the one that inspires it is a beautiful as she is inside and out.

Marsha - Looking forward is always where I try to find myself.  I may reflect once in awhile, but looking back in regret only wastes time.  Thank you my friend.

Martie-Big smiles is what you give me my dear friend.  Thank you so much.

Deb-Does that mean I have to get one of those touch screen computers? LOL  Thank you my friend.  I am always in for a smile when you come around.

JM-You know me too well for me to just try to hide the promise in this one so we will leave it at that and not scorch the pages of this forum okay?  Thank you my friend for all you do and are to me.  The imagery in this one came straight from the vision of her eyes to mine so to speak.

Virginia-Please do my friend.  I will be waiting for it.  Thank you so much and I am glad that you found inspiration in my theme.

Victoria-That is one of the main reasons that a couple (whether it be friends of more) has a much better chance of making those sorrows disappear.  Thank you for your kindness and for responding to my poem so intently.  It means much to me.

Oh dear Mark ... you bring such a freshness to life! What a wonderful way to look upon new love in it's tender beginnings:

"Tonight we begin our memories of tomorrow
No longer looking back at yesterday's sorrow
Reflecting on the dance that brought us here
Captivated in the melodies of new love's cheer"

Superb writing my friend, and complimented by a beautiful mesmerizing picture ... just lovely!

Best wishes,
/Kit

A Whisper's Caress-Thank you much my friend. I am glad you found it lovely.

Bill-Thank you much kind sir.  Tis a good way to bring in the new year is it not?

Sunny1-As do yours my sister of poetry.  Thank you dearly and you know that any graphic I use you may pick up.

Kethry-I thank you much my friend for that lovely comment and comparison as I know you liked that one of mine.  I am glad this one compares to it.

Greeneyes-The canvas is beautiful because of the paints within the heart of her.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

James-Thank you my friend.  I am still trying to catch up to your talent.

Cathy-Thanks sis.  I am glad that you think so.  We all know that you write wonderfully as well.

Kit-Any freshness to life I may bring is purely inspired by her and I thank you dearly my friend.  You seem to be writing at a whole new level these days yourself.  Care to share the "secret" or do we just figure it out?

Sandra-There is always hope my friend and I know that someday soon you will find that out for yourself.  Thank you much.  I am glad that I could bring a smile to you.

Karilea-Thank you much.  I am glad you think I did well on this one.

MarkB~
You know that I think this one is extra special~
Someone is glowing with the ecstacy of the night ...

My favorite lines are difficult to pinpoint ...
but I'll try really hard ~

'Swirls of mahogany waltz in aromatic illusion
Hypnotizing the fears of my heart's confusion
Embers of promise glow among forgotten ash
Embraced within the flames of eternity's sash'

Yes, I think that does it nicely, my friend.

You are growing and glowing ... and she looks good on you !

Thank you for a soft delightful read.
You are first-class all the way.
*Hugs*

MARK, I dunno what to say about this poem you shared with us other than it's absolutely beautiful...
And BTW, as I concluded the read what I have written above just flowed onto the reply screen so it may not make sense to you or anyone for that matter but it seemed like your poem has triggured a thought in me...
Thank you PoetFriend for this delightful treasure of a read

Marge-Thank you my dear friend.  She looks good with or without me from the inside out but don't tell her or she may just decide to go that way.LOL   NOT IF I CAN HELP IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Time for some more cowboy charms maybe.  Hugs to you for ALL you do my friend.

Coco-You my friend once again have made my night.  Your verse was stunningly beautiful and I thank you for letting it flow out.  You sure do know the way to making this cowboy smile my friend. Thank you for you and all your wonderful ways about you.
