I Could Wish I could wish for the stars and call to the breeze Or hope that the moon is made of cream cheese I could dream the world lived together in peace And wish so hard that wars would forever cease I could pray that love would sweep through me And that loves smiling face I will soon see These wishes and impossible dreams are as true As the chance that you will say again I love you I could ask the heavens to move out of the way Or tell the sun she mustn't rise up or set today I could choose a star and keep it within my heart Or command the ocean from the sands to be apart I could plead with an angel to give me her song And wish for truths touch to make me feel strong These hopes and yearning desires will come true After the world dies or that you say I love you I could beg the hands of time to sweep on back Or plead with the wind to alter her usual tack I could ask the grass not to sprout up and grow Or tell the moon not to reflect her silver glow I could ask for the secrets the mountains hold Or beg ice and snow not to make my heart go cold These thoughts and wants will all be my reality Immediately after you show me your hearts mystery Marsha Take back the hope you gave,- I claim Only a memory of the same Robert Browning |
