Apology to my heart

In times past you reveled in love
Felt the heat of passion
A never-ending spring of flowing love
Filled with kindness
Profuse with caring
Filled with power
Sustained life to its fullest
This you gave to me
Of free will

Gave all you were
Only to be forsaken
Rejected, put out in you prime
To suffer the pains alone
Your darkest hour was at hand

I know in your weakness
There is strength
For I have been witness to it
Resilience in your ability to survive
To take what might destroy another
And keep your self-alive

Yet through it all
You remain open
Still the love light shines
Caring for others

Me all the time knowing
Over ruled intellect
By raging hormones
Blind to your weakness
Deaf ear to your cries
You were still weak
Not fully healed
Vulnerable to pain
I put in the spot
To hurt yet once again

So for what I have done
In placing you on the line
Making you a target for rejection
I know it is not much
But it’s the best I have to offer
To one who has served me so well
I am truly sorry
On bended knee
To you my heart
I offer you my humblest apology
For with out you I would have no Life
