Where's the voice?
(Lancelot {Bilal} © 2000)

In Grozny 100 kids lyin' in mass-graves
In Bosnia, 10,000 sleepin' in mass-graves

         All shot in the head
         Or simply their throats slit
         To make sure they're dead
Turned off the candles before they're lit

In Somalia old died of hunger
         And in Kashmir women de-breasted

         Rape, torture, snuff and hunger
For people who had different faith

         They are humans like you'n'me
         Only innocent and un-armed

         In Herzegovnia, pregnant lady killed
And puppy put in her womb
While the dead foetus lie by her side
Without religion, faith or even tomb

Why did some, so called, human
         Destroy these lives so easily

Media talks 'bout Monica and Clinton
Trials as trivial as OJ Simpson
How many time you hear kids dying in Iraq?
Or the ones being snuffed in beautiful Kashmir?
         NEVER !!!

Tears are falling even as I write. It's pathetic, the trivial matters we are fed here in America... Thank you for the reminding me of the really important things!

It makes me wonder the horrors that humanity is capable of. powerful writing.

It's in your eyes a fire that's wild and glorious

Powerful writing!...I agree with a lot of this! The last century was certainly a century of atrocities like mankind had never experienced previous. I'm afraid that religion has a lot to answer for...religion and the state joined at the hip should never have been the case...but, hey, money and power make for strange bedfellows.
In every case worldwide there is religious involvement at the root of the problem so to speak...Is religion's prime purpose to be involved in cultivating hatred between different countries, peoples and races...hummm????

......

its a sick feeling..that these people who torure others as this are allowed to exist..i wish i could ask the big man the questions that come to my mind and burden my heart...one day we'll know the reasons why.....i know he cries....

Thoe world out there is filled with atrocities and lots of it we don't even know about. Media, to some extend, is biased or simply misinformed, or even worse, un-informed. People don't see the truth cuz they are not shown. The victim dies once but the people around him/her who live, die a hundred deaths everyday! Humans have forgotten to live and let live-cuz they've forgotten the religion and its true teachings and can't live with what Allah has clearly laid down for them in Quran. Its just jealousy and prejedous that they wanna rule with.
Thank you all for responding to my humble poem.
