To Live In Hope

It would be easy for me to give up and not hope
But honestly without it I really doubt if I would cope
For hope is my prayer, a very necessary part of me
It is the song within me, and that almost silent plea
It is the part that lifts my face up to the smiling sun
It is the touch of beauty or of love that's just begun
The flow of the river that chatters endlessly to the trees
And the sigh of the wind carried on the scented breeze

My heart would be less bruised if I hid her far away
If I kept her safe and refused to let her have her say
Wrapped her within dreams and allow her to softly sleep
Away from real life and not let her even to take a peep
But if I kept her away she'd never learn about touch
She'd never wonder about truth or yearn quite so much
Never hear the call of love and never answer 'I'm here'
She'd not know the thrill of joys so bright, so very dear

My spirit wouldn't be crushed I could keep her warm
Never let her wander in loves arms of in desires storm
Held her secure within a palace that's lined with gold
Not let her roam or find the feeling of fears so cold
She'd not understand though the sheer delight of a sigh
Or face the excitement of soaring up there so high
Never taste the touch of sweet love as she breathed in
She'd not know the desire for love to enter within

So although it would be safer to pack myself all away
I think that I will live openly keeping myself on display
For although it is less painfull it is also not much fun
And I prefer to keep myself here in loves smiling sun
Hope will shine and keep me bright and looking out
My heart will smile and wait until love is around about
And spirit will be blessed by loves' air that flows through
And I'll know the delight of truth and love that's true

This is a wonderful poem that I think everyone can relate to. We all wish we could not hope or expect things, because then we wouldn't be disappointed, but to not hope would be to not strive for anything. It's just as the saying goes "It is better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all". When we find what we're looking for all the previous disappointments are over-ridden.
You give a great message with this poem! I for one will hang on to my hope and my dreams. Thank you, and a Happy New Year to you

P T love, thank you so muchly, didn't I say you can't keep a good bubble down. It's one of those things, either I could give in, or I could pick myself up and start to rise. One of the few advantages, and believe me they are very few, of working in a hospital, is that you see just how lucky in comparison to others. And I think I possibly needed reminding of this occassionally.
Thank you love, and you know I value your comments
Take care
