Days That Cannot Bring You Near |

Days that cannot bring you near, or will not, fill my waking hours with need. Tonight I long for the sound of your voice, the certainty of your quick step at my front door. I would give any tribute for the simple act of touching your shoulder, knowing it always had time for my tears. I would glide my fingers across your cheek, memorizing lines and curves to hold against a rainy day when your soft brown eyes no longer turn on me. Once your letters kept my wishes warm, but they come so seldom now my heart lies buried beneath time's frost. More than anything, I still long to hold you close; to say "I love you" and mean it from the top of my heart to the depths of my spirit. Time has no meaning for love or devotion, my feelings would not change if it were a thousand summers instead of twenty-one. Still, I would hold your head against my breast, whisper "I love you" over and over, beyond all counting or remembering. Perhaps if I said it just enough it would finally penetrate your distant heart; bring you near where days cannot - light your eyes up once again with wanting me. I would give my world to see that look in your eyes just one more time. |

Thanks Charisme and Rose, I am glad you enjoyed my newest poem (penned this afternoon). He knows how I love him..unfortunately he has been married to someone else these 20 years. I wish I could just go get him |

How I could feel this....Seems sometimes we would give most anything to just have one more touch...Great work..I loved it!! Hugs ~LL~ The way to love anything is to realize it might be lost. author unknown |

Thank you very much, VAS and Lady. It is a poem born of powerful emotion and longing. And you are right, I would give ANYTHING to see him, touch him once more..and it has been that way for 20 years. Some times I feel pretty pathetic, but mostly I just feel faithfully devoted to the greatest love of my life. |

Beki... If you're pathetic, you have plenty of company. *S* For you've voiced the longing of many hearts... and pain that never seems to die, whether 20 years or 20 minutes have passed since your world ended. Well done! |
