has anyone else asked this question? In the clutches of hawkes, they soar on imagined wings where once they pecked at my crumbs. Where once I held out a steadying arm and laid down blankets for their fall, that they are saved from halting That they avoid reduction to a bruised and broken crawl. I thumbed away those tears and stilled those vibrating shoulders that are now so proudly thrown back in defiance of fortune, of lifes' slips I warmed those hands with mine and nodded grimly, I dried those rainsoaked wings and in time flung open the cage door. I stood with open palms and calmed the stormy seas. I built you up and set you free and now in the clutches of hawkes, soaring on imagined wings are you being carried away from me? if it is true that the world talks toomuch then let us all keep quiet and hear the eloquence of silence - Richard Ntiru |
