Listening

Raindrops fall on an emotionally parched earth
yet the suns brilliant rays evaporate their worth
and such is the ending just as it began
when one follows the cycle of the circle of man.

Moonbeams flee from their source soon to be gone
there isn't much time to dance on the lawn
for when night becomes day the waltz isn't remembered
and the fondest of dreams our minds have dismembered.

So questing for substance with permanence not mentioned
we must look deeper than mere consciousness intentioned
this is initiated by defining the start
listening to words spoken from a heart to a heart.

Robert

if you can dream; you can fly...if you are flying; you are dreaming.

I like it, Robert... Sometimes life is just one big oxymoron, isn't it??

We'd best start listening... heart to heart.. You're absolutely right..

Well, you reached the nature lover in me and the flow in this only adds to the splendor of the words.  Thank you for posting this one!

Robert~
I've read this aloud four times -
the cadence is mesmerizing -

I copied it onto my little speaking clipboard
and let it be read back to me -
Yep ... it is wonderfully lilting.

I especially had a fondness for this thought -
'and such is the ending just as it began
when one follows the cycle of the circle of man.'

I enjoyed this.

Thank you one and all....I wrote this as an anniversary gift to a friend.

Yet as is all or most of my poetry, it is about me.....thinking about thinking about stuff (life)
