As If a Ticker-Tape ParadeVirginia Salter Remnants of summer’s celebration hang like spent party balloons. Leaves lie as confetti ‘cross the earth following autumn’s harvest parade. And I reap joy as I lie beneath a brilliant sunshined-blue sky halved with deep gray as storm clouds bid adieu and Sir Wind sweeps away tell-tale signs of too much leisure from my lawn and porch. I watch as this gift leaf-raking dances pirouettes into Breeze’s helping hand. In awe, I stand, reap. © November 4, 2000 [This message has been edited by Nan (edited 11-17-2000).] |

VAS~ This is such a lovely piece. I can envision the leaves dancing about in the wind. Very, very nice. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Nan, all the the centering...I didn't try for centering. The larger lettering for the title and the italics. The first attempt, for some reason left the instructions showing. Aurora Rain, I chose the title because the leaves flying around in many colors, like confetti, reminded me of all the 'ticker-tape' flying at a parade in New York City, scenes from old movies and documentaries of soldiers' returns from WWII. It works for me, but thanks very much for your thoughts. I'd imagine people two generations younger than mine would not envision the same type of thing for it would not be in their experiential background. THANK YOU ALL for reading and commenting!!! |
