   Turn Around

Turn around, turn around,
remember,

A wet child,
my child,
a small thing perhaps.
I saw her
through the kitchen window.
with her head held up
her mouth open.

A rain bath and a rain drink,
she told me as she dripped
from glossy black hair
and the tip of her nose,
gold and green eyes dancing
like a cloudless day.

She threw her arms around me,
as a puddle of rain formed at our feet,
and jabbered the way
that young girls do.

Turn around, turn around,
remember
the way her eyes
held secrets that time would tell
and the way she looked
racing down the hall,
running from her youth
into her future.

I wanted to take a picture
of the feeling,
to wrap in velvet
and keep safe.

The camera, my heart,
oh, to click and keep
her slender back
gracefully moving past.

This brought tears to my eyes, Martie. The heart is the best of all cameras, isn't it? HUGS

Sis~
Little puddled footprints tracked the heart.
Some days are for remembering - this is one of those.
*Hugs*, my sweet.

Can't say I can relate to this one, yet, but I know when I finally will hear the patter of little feet I will recall this poem, beautifully penned.

It's in your eyes a fire that's wild and glorious
Unhibited, unfinished in everything I do Let the morning rise like our hearts desire" whipping boy

Achingly lovely.  A mother can never forget.  How do you manage to write of her so beautifully!  And I can see her slender back running down the hall, and the rain dripping from her black hair - I can almost hear her voice.
You are such an artist with your words, Martie!

Sven--yes, I will always remember...thank you.

Rosemary--I write of her so as to remember...and keep her close...otherwise her face is dim and her laughter gone...I know you understand.

Eric True--you have spoken so sweetly...I am very touched...thank you.

Bill--I know, my friend...a daughter is a special things...especially to a father.
