Of all the dance tunes of my youth The one I danced to best Earle Hagen's Harlem Nocturne When I held close to my chest I felt the beat go slow then fast Then slow and fast repeating The dream in my arms Following lead my heart beating Stardust was good and many others But the nocturne's Sax moaned high And the change in pace so tantalized We'd float up to the sky Perhaps it was a boyhood dream A fantasy perhaps of youth Yet I cannot doubt my lead was sure And I never moved uncouth I've watched dancers, and figure skaters They flow to the music they've chosen And I think if I were that good at all We'd 'Nocturne' until we were frozen On the Milky Way's trails we'd set our feet Through the galaxy stardust we'd make Off past the stars well beyond Mars A picture of love's dance we'd make Yes, dance with me darling till we hear starlings The saxophones' wailing a concert In my warm embrace to heaven we'll chase We'll have each other for dessert Great souls have wills; feeble ones have only wishes. ~ Chinese Proverb ~ |

Wilfred~ Makes me want to glide across the roller rink floor ~ 'On the Milky Way's trails we'd set our feet Through the galaxy stardust we'd make Off past the stars well beyond Mars A picture of love's dance we'd make' Romance in dance ... how appealing. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

We all have a piece or two of music that is special to us...as a teen, when working the floor mats for rhythmic gymnastics, I always choose the themes from "Exodus" and "The Pink Panther" for my routines... so thanks for the memories... and Mr. Yeats? Happy New Year...Karilea [This message has been edited by Sunshine (edited 12-31-2000).] |

Is that the same Earl Hagen that Frances Langstrom and the James Alexander chorus play with...that's all I could come up with at mp3 It sounds like a beautiful piece and I love the way you have written a dancing dream into this poem..ah! I love it when such music inspires the heart and soul of the listener to dream and create a virtual world of wonders....take care........... ethome |
