            Niagara Falls In Winter

The icy mist
showers down in whispers,
dusting each tree
in a nuance of crystal.

The city lights gleam
in scarabs of color
painting midnight rainbows in your hair.

As the falls thunder and quake,
surges of power beckon the total
destiny of this winter paradise.

You take my hand,
and I am captured in the breathless
etchings of beauty in your eyes.
I fall against your body,
and your arms surround me.

I feel the compelling power
of the falls rage within me,
as your lips touch mine
in velvet softness.

I lose myself
in enchanted euphoria
and gaze into the eyes
of the most beautiful wonder
...of the world.

Sometime ago I wrote of the Falls in winter - after reading this - I am scrapping it - your poem is so far superior -

athena, you cannot keep writing like this. . . this is so beautiful. . . *sigh*. . . I've never been to the Falls, but now. . . I really want to go. . .

Hi athena4,

Well written words I read here today which have brought back many pleasant memories. I lived near Rochester, NY for a while, and had the chance to visit the falls in the winter. Very nice, and a very pleasant read.,

Wilfred,
Thank you so much for the kind words. I would love to read your poem on the "Falls"  They really do inspire writing, don't they?
         Elise

Charisma,
Thanks so much. And yes, it was "penned with love" at the time, but now the wonder of the man is gone. The Falls are still there, though!
         Elise

Sven,
Thanks for the always beautiful response. Sven, my friend, if you ever went to the Falls and penned a poem, the waters would cease in awe of your writing...
      Much love, Elise

Bill,
Thank you so much. I hope you will get to see them again, as they are such an inspiration.
          Elise
