The White of the Snow

A wonderland falls from the sky to the ground
And lays down a blanket with barely a sound
It fills up the eye with enchantment and glee
And changes the portrait of berry and tree

A fresh crispy coverlet lacing the earth
That playfully turns little hearts into mirth
And brings out the scavanger’s foot to and fro
That leaves little prints on the white of the snow

How lovely the snowflake, how gently it lays
Mysteriously nature has whitened my days
And pleasantly graced my domain with regard
As feathery friends come to visit my yard

Of all of the wonders of any I know
There’s nothing more stunning than fresh fallen snow
I stand here in reverence and gaze at the scene
Of silence and splendor, the white of serene

The maple is outlined in glimmer of white
My heart is encased in a coat of delight

And you delight us by sharing such lovely thoughts as this -

'A fresh crispy coverlet lacing the earth'

Beautiful, my friend.

But but but....that fresh crispy coverlet is burying my car   Okay....I'll admit it is beautiful, though!   But not nearly as beautiful as your lovely poem, Elizabeth!

Astonishingly lovely, Elizabeth.  Not that you wrote so astonishingly, that's you, but that you have depicted snow in its utmost beauty.  It can be this lovely...when I, or my loved ones, don't have to travel in it.  Then it is this exquisite!

P.S.

Currier and Ives could not have painted it more beautifully than you.

There is such a silent mystic beauty hidden in the wonderful light fluffy stuff. It brings out the nostalgia in most poets...almost like one life is ending now but that it was such a pleasant life and there are many treasured memories one can reflect upon in that life.....this is soft and soothing work Elizabeth I rreally thoroughly enjoyed it...especially where I'm from I can relate!   ethome
