A coat of many colors?
No, just a quilt from scraps
  Memories made from others
   So many questions to ask.

This piece from Granny's dress
She only wore on Sunday
Oh, how pretty in her best
Now its mine for evey day.

A worn coat from Mom
The color still bright
  And shirts from Uncle Tom
   Red, yellow, green and white.

I can't believe the riot of color
The patterns old, some faded
I'll put some here or other
   And together they are mated

Oh, so pretty and on my bed
The colors & pieces & memories,
Of those I loved, now dead,
   Floating down like leaves.

My Butterfly ;
You don't get to know ALL of my secrets! I hope you will help me look for it, though. At my age, you seem to forget a lot! Love y'all, ME

What a wonderful piece of reflection to bring back the memories of those who live in the heart.  I know of a quilt somewhat like this in my family but HOLLY...you ain't gettin that one either...LOL.

Beautifully penned and the images were superb.

MotherEarth~
Oh, how you remind me of myself !
Each precious scrap of memory sewn onto the quilt.

I finger the squares and the memories take flight ...
circling to bring loved ones back to my heart.

Thank you for this lovely written piece.

Mark:  I guess you told that Holly!  She will have the weave her own quilt....sure.
thanks for the kind words

Marge: as a new quilter and a new poem writer, I wish I had more quilts.  I never got any hand-me-down quilts so have to make my own memories. Memoriesare great, aren't they. Thanks

Charisma: You snuck in there when I was out.  Thank you and I want to keep all the good memories and a quilt is a good way to do it.

Oh, Janet Marie how I envy you your gift of a grandma's quilt.  No one in my family did quilting that I know of so I have to make my own memories.  It is easy to get lost when looking at an old quilt. And wonderful!
            Thank you,

Hooked or not the gift for the weave does run in the family, that is something I DO know.   I love this one, the reflection on a lifetime of memories, and as Marge said, each one so very precious!  Take care!
