dance around the words
that silence your heart’s vow
speak not of love to me
but of all the mundane ‘how’

how can you now?
how can this be?
how can you be
in love with me?

slide across the floor
boot scooting with agility
stomping on my heart
not seeing my fragility

how can you now?
how can this be?
how can you be
in love with me?

take off that hat
let the mind run free
admit it now
you’re in love with me

how can you now?
how can this be?
how can you be
in love with me?

I write with the ink of my heart.
