November Ponderings October shed her colors to the earth Until the coming of the spring’s rebirth A whiteness falls upon the morning green In frosty coat of icy crystalline The floral rainbow blooms of flower bed Have given way to my sweet holly red The umbered shades of copper, gold and plum Are shriveling now to frost upon the mum What then is left to please the watching eye But white of snow and gray of winter sky? The colored wings of winter birds aspread The green of pine and my sweet holly red And what shall happen when the berries fall And snowy mantle lays upon it all? The bluejay blue will come upon the scene And cardinal red will light on holly green The warbler’s yellow wing and sparrow gray Will flutter passed my eye until one day When snow has melted under winter wren The red of robin will appear again The robin redbreast, on its nesting wing Will bring a pastel palette filled with spring Elizabeth Santos |

lovely, gorgeous, serenely Elizabeth's pen... Karilea If I whisper, will you listen?... I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound. KRJ |

Elizabeth I love that title November Ponderings...you certainly went on into the verses bringing the meaning of that title out so deeply and beautifully with a certain penchant for the coming season as everything once again goes through it's cycle. Loved the reference to the Robin at the end..I always get such an appreciation for life when I read one of your nature flavoured poems....thanks so much dear lady...ethome |
