Twenty-Six Years Ago

Twenty-six years ago
our marriage had just begun.
We were children then,
still learning the ways of life,
not knowing or caring
of the trials yet to come.
We loved one another
with passions unbounded,
heat of the sun,
unbridled tempest raging
as our hearts wove
starry pathways,
blending our souls
into one.
Today we are older,
the raging heat
has faded some,
but the love that follows
those carefree years,
is strong,  full,
and our hands still touch
with a spark from the heart,
that magical glow
that says we are one,
even when apart.
I love you, my friend,
my wife,
mother of our children,
as  together we walk the path
through the rest of our life.

Beautiful, I'm quite sure your wife will be overwhelmed by this poem. As you said love does change after awhile, but I believe love grows even more within the heart. When you can just look at each other and know that you are one.
