I once long ago in innocence,
believed a heartfelt lie
and imbued by lust desired,
a pregnancy to try
I believed I would give birth
to a genteel butterfly

amid my long confinement
this, my maidenly cry
that my babe, be pretty and
a pleasure to the eye,
beautiful for all to see
a glorious butterfly

but was born a grublet,
a strange and changeling child
not my butterfly at all
and savage, very wild
then in anger turned away
from my babe, defiled

but still the babe in arms did grow
and charming she could be,
though unlovely to the eye,
showed others mystery
and I know she loved me
this kept my sanity

so we grew together,
this changeling child and I
but my heart was often grieved
for my lost butterfly
I then in lust would wander
and took what, caught my eye

no word of condemnation,
came from my butterfly
but I could see the embryo
of sadness in her eye
I vowed, to alter my ways for
my exotic butterfly

My butterfly and I fought,
almost constantly
but when I needed comfort,
she was there for me
I find it hard to notice but
she spreads serenity

I do not understand her
for she's all teeth and claws
with her teenage anger
oozing from all pores... but
oft times my frightened butterfly
peeks from behind closed doors

I am in my dotage now
my grublet child and I
still remain together
sharing, all that has gone by
and it gives me comfort
of her strong character, and I
am extremely proud of
my iron butterfly

They all have such unique and wonderful qualities...ya just gotta love'em for what they are and not what ya want'em to be and it ends up that you miss the individualism of each one if they're not around....love on   mamma!!!
