Deep Waters I am fearful of deep water where the undersurface is a confidential and unobserved place. I often glance back to the shallows near the water's edge same as an infant yearning for it's mother's embrace. However the seducement of deep water pulls at my soul and weans me from security. Walking or diving into the unknown reaches of life can be both stimulating and scary, but we all know that the treasures of life that are gained by taking the chances that some others won't often lead us to some of the most precious gems of our lives. Wonderful write. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!! |

RobertB~ I think that the moment we leave the waters of the womb - we are enticed to plunge into the deeper rivers of life. This is quite a ponderous write, Robert. Very well done. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Well written Robert. Fear of the unknown often lead us to tread water carefully, Yet how can we grow if we don't get our feet wet sometimes. If a dream touches us, it exists to us as anything else that touches us. John |

Do we ever truly feel "secure" once we depart the womb? Never again in the same way, I think. Good write my friend...enjoyed. jwesley |

Your poem made me think of diving into the deep end of a relationship praying it will be the one that will fill our hearts and souls. Life is so filled with uncertainty. Much love and Christmas hugs from me to you. Love I leave with you my friend whether it be in your life or of yet the essense of your dreams. http://path2riches.com |

That is very good JR....we do have to get our feet wet and sometimes much more to truly grow. jwesley, you are right...the womb is/should be our most secure haven. Once we depart it, we are at the mercy of the elements. Startime.....I don't remember thinking of this poem being about a relationship....but maybe it was....hmmmmm. Robert |

Robert, after reading other's comments you made me think of all my own fears...fear of the unknown is something I am feeling at this moment. It stops me cold..and sometimes instead of moving forward I step back and freeze...kind of like a deer in headlights...it's an awful feeling...I am almost drowning in them at times...and I have felt that too, once being pushed into deep waters when I couldn't swim, but like your poem I was enticed to stand too near the edge..oh well so much for my thoughts...I am scatter brained today..*s by the way I learned to swim at leaast enough to keep my head above waters after that..guess I am almost doing that now...(metaphorically) ~Wynter "The worst prison would be a closed heart". ...Pope John Paul II |

Wynter...sometimes just keeping out heads above water is all that we can do and ALL that is expected of us. You hang in there......tomorrow is another day. Robert |

Robert, I too am afraid of deep water and I've discovered that holding the hand of someone you trust and who is prepared to walk with you is the best way to overcome that fear. Very concise and in depth write Write on, in song Kethry Religion is for people frightened about going to hell - Spirituality is for people who have been there. Anon. |

Kethry, I am terrified of deep water really. I saw "Cast Away" last night and the scene with Tom Hanks out on the open ocean with that wooden raft made me sweat! Robert |

I'm glad the seduction is there Robert because it brings these deep emotional thoughts to the fore and you write about them very well....oh the fear that makes the heart think....ethome |

im not afraid of water..since i know how to swim..its heights i dont like..and closed in spaces...i would rather drown in the open seas instead of suffocating in a closet...haa...you will never catch me on a roof either ha.. ![]() ~Victoria~ A poem is never finished, only abandoned. - Paul Valery (1871-1945) |

Just the oposite for me Victoria....I have my own remodeling business. I just finished working 4 stories in the air on the outside of this house. To look up and think about the height is a little unsettling, but as I gradually work my way up to the top, it feels rather pleasant to look around the whole neighborhood. Robert |

ethome...I really think the most seductive force we may face is that of our fears. Robert |

I'm very impressed with this one, it is quite profound. Enjoyed. "Love is a fire. But whether it is going to warm your hearth or burn down your house, you can never tell." Joan Crawford |
