Touch of Hand it began way back then extension of hand to grasp a hand comfort then in the touch hand in hand Dad's love was grand he taught me to extend my hand lift up child or fellow man by wave to save a hi up high and send it sky ward tho so shy with downcast eyes my hand always led forward to touch knew that much had to be done to undo the shy which had begun because of the difference I felt in I… not like the rest times passed, time changed, lifted eye, never the same again but for the touch of hand to hand still grand was the grip of Dad's command in my heart, to give a lift of hi to high above and soon to know that lift gave love unbeknownst to me… many many hands touched mine some were firm some were fine some were babes some held wine lust came with one a pledge in others have you ever touched common sense hands? they take command with logic's stand one took my hand along with my heart held it for awhile then tore it apart loosed the hand lost the stand soon I ran wringing my hands from hand to hand I shook and grasped touched and stroked and firmly clasped held the firm and held the aged and held the wisdom of the sages but once, just once by complete surprise one reached out to me and thoughtfully surmised, then he reached out and he taught me to extend my hand lift up child or fellow man by wave to save a hi up high and send it sky ward and it occurred to him once and then again that in his hands I would stand as if a piece of china fine art of his mind where he would entwine my heart with his hands and in his clasp I felt this heart did melt and love did pelt my mind so tentatively he extended his hand and then I to he extended mine and the feel of both is silken fine and shall last for all time. Persephone love, Nooo love, don't hand it to him on a platter. Or hand over your talent, or he'll win hand over fist. (I'm sorry love, I couldn't resist, I've been reading the jokes before putting them in my New Year's crackers. So naturally my normal bad jokes are even worse. But this had me laughing like a drain Three pieces of string walked into a pub and they all sat down by the bar. The first one called the barman over and said three pints of lager please. The barman said sorry we don't serve string in here. So the piece of string went and sat by his mates and said he wouldn't serve me. Oh s** it said one of them let me get them. And exactly the same thing happened, the barman refused to serve him. So he went back to his mates grumbling. I'll sort this said the third, just watch. With that he tied a knot in his head and ruffled his hair, got up and marched over to the barman. Three pints of lager please, and the barman replied how many more times must I tell you we don't serve string here. But said the string I'm a frayed knot. See I told you, a really bad joke Take care kid have a good weekend and holiday Majestic Mushy Marsha < !signature--> Take back the hope you gave,- I claim Only a memory of the same Robert Browning [This message has been edited by Marsha (edited 12-22-2000).] |

With other of our senses doninating, it is beautiful that you could tribute so many life experiences through the sense of touch. I really liked the following part of your poem... For me this really stood out.... Bob <>< he taught me to extend my hand lift up child or fellow man by wave to save a hi up high and send it sky ward |

Bob, it is always within me to start out serious...some folks just have a way to make it a little more comical, I don't know why... but yes, my father did just this, and I shall always be grateful that he did, and by the way...you bear his name... so thank you Sir...
