Seeking my muse, I sit in silence
Alone in my room
With sounds of life intruding
Cars spinning their wheels
On the icy hill
Carpenters repairing a roof next door
The far off ‘hee-haw’ of EMS rushing
Music through a shared wall
Proclaiming love in raucous rock tones

I am listening for you
Hoping to hear you
Across the miles
Words, thoughts
About you
The dissemination of your thinking
Your love
Where it has failed
Seemed incomplete

I want to feel your hurt
Become an empath
Hear your new poem
From your lips – not the page

The freight tracks in the next block
Aren’t singing
Neither do they rumble
With hundred car trains
Carrying raw materials to factories

It is so cold
The dogs have withdrawn
Sleeping before hearths
Cats are curled on beds
Without a purr

We are still new
I need to hear your
Who you were, are
Who you want to be

How do you see clouds
What do trees make you feel
What’s made you grow

Incidental sounds
Still intrude
The door bell
The phone

Jewel sings now
Mariah is silent
Perhaps she listens too

When we do the best that we can, we never know what miracle is
wrought in our life, or in the life of another.

*sigh* such heart and soul you have penned, my friend. You call out, reach out and wait a response. It is easy for the heart to respond to your words in all their honesty. Beautiful poem. I hope the one you call to knows it is for her. Much love and Christmas hugs from me to you.

Love I leave with you my friend whether it be in your life or of yet the essense of your dreams. http://path2riches.com

Ah, "they call the wind Mariah" is what you've forced front from my memory banks, yet I know that had not been your intention...but now I must go find that song...

and this Sir, was quite enjoyable...

I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound.

To everyone: Please accept this wish for:
HAPPY HOLIDAYS -
May they be the most Joyful ever - and last throughout the year.

This was an ttempt to emulate the style of one of my Favorite published poets:
Billy Collins - I hope those who read and Liked it will look for his work and find great writing as I did.

Startime-
I know these holiday times make the communication we desire more difficult - Thanks

Sunshine -
If you don't remember - your song was featured in the Musical "Paint Your Wagon"
and it is a favorite of mine as well.
Thank you so much

Paula-
I believe she does - Thank you

inot2B-
I hope you noted in my reply preamble - The inspiration came from Mr. Collins - the sounds and wishes are uniquely my own
Thank you

beautiful Bill as always
I think of clouds as
white pillows carrying whispers
and tree humming the tunes
