Firefly Glow
By Richard Maxfield
6-28-2000

Setting on my porch
As brilliant orange sun sets
Darkness filling paintbrush sky
Twilight sun shine yet

Smell of fresh cut grass
Nipping at my nose
Warm gentle breeze
Whisking through my toes

Peaceful silence broken
Knighting gale sing his song
Twilight lousing its battle
Will not be light for long

In the distant dark
Single firefly blink
Transports to a time
Mind begins to think

Happy days now past
When my children were small
The hours spent in play
Laughing having a ball

Chasing firefly’s twinkle
Distant flicker glow
Bring them back to Daddy
So proud for them to show

Eyes so dazzling to shame
Thousand starlight bright
Put them in their jimmies
Give a kiss goodnight

Ever standing vigilant
Keep them safe from harm
Watching over my babies
Tender heart with strong arm

Burning bright with in my mind
Loving those childhood ways
Of such sweet innocences
How I miss those days

MaxTec~
As those little fire-flies flicker -
lots of memories are brought to mind.

This is an adorable sharing piece.

Tears in my eyes!!!!  My son is only four, and I try not to think about how fast he is growing up..it is these memories that we hold dearly in our hearts.  Great post.
