C o l d Virginia Salter cold so cold even my icicles had icicles streets, houses, lawns coated in white, white snow then, Chinook came in rattled strings of icicles shrank stalagmites dripped away stalactites placed ice sheet on streets, sidewalks cars blow and blow does it go as sunshine shouts at pock-marked surfaces pelted with tree seeds looking like bird’s paradise yet no birds appear not crow, raven nor cardinal to feast upon wind’s leaving, heaving onto the land and me, I stand, watching hatching memories for the keeping, sleeping into winter dreams © December 15, 2000 |

Now this one really had some remarkable images pouring into my mind. Wonderful read from you today. Loved the glistening streaks of white a blue in this one. A life with love will have some thorns, but a life without love will have no roses. author unknown |
