Put This Hearse - In Reverse
~*Marge Tindal*~

Somber moments last recalled,
slow processions at best.
Once around the block,
then I'm laid to rest.

Driver, turn around this hearse !
Put the damned thing in reverse !
Drive back through the life of me,
for there are places I need to see.

Tour me through the streets of my life,
past moments of sorrow, on the corner of strife.
Let me know that I shone a light
into another's life that night.

Pull over to the curb of friendship,
for I am thirsty for another sip,
found upon the gentle lips
of remembered love.

A double drive through joy,
shared with another soul.
Youthful treasure standing
on the corner of rock and roll.
Put this hearse in reverse !
I've further back I must go !

Take me on a circle
through my wishes and dreams.
Did they really come as true as it seems ?

Take me down the avenue
to the arms of my dear mother.
Back where I began,
a child - a child - a child again.

Now, if you insist, we can proceed
to the appointed rendezvous,
where surely she awaits
to rock me gently in her arms
beyond eternity's gates.

Place one simple flower on this space
of grave remembering,
for to this final resting place,
what we were is all we bring.

Remind the others, driver,
lest we all forget.
Live and love the best you can.
One trip through life is all we get.

You've got that right Marge...great thoughts...and I'm going out New Orlean's style...and everyone will be singing...happy happy songs!

But that's not for about 63 years yet or so...

I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound.

Marge~

So true.  Make the most of what you are given.  Excellent advice!!

Really like this!  May I keep it in my favorites and share it with my pastor and other friends?

exquiste...i love the way you pen. you are magical.

I know what you mean Marge no one's getting out of this one alive...so make the best of it while you're here....my sentiments exactly
...live, love, laugh and be happy and you sure know how to do that through your wonderful words...so exuberant they are sometimes that I just want to dance and I just might you never know!
Like Don Henley says in his song
"you can have stack and stacks and stacks
but I ain't seen a hearse with luggage racks."

Karilea~
Thanks for the reply.
Pensive thoughts went through this head
when I saw a funeral procession passing.

LoneWolf~
And that's just what we all should do.

VAS~
You may share it.
I trust your pastor is a liberal-thinker.

Balladeer~
I try !

Ethan~
Okay.
Thanks for the reply.

Paula~
Thanks, hon.
Have you ever wondered what avenues you'd want to visit IF we had choices ?

ETHome~
Just was thinking that when it's time to make that trip
I might want to do an encore.

EagleOne~
*Hugs*, my sweet friend.
