in each of us, there dwells a light
the light of love shining ever bright
and we shine those lights each and every day
but how do we shine those lights, and in what way?

do we shine our lights to our kin
so that their darkness might not be so dim?
do we shine our lights to our friends
so that we can share with them a love without end?

do we shine our lights to the child
who sits on our lap meek and mild?
do we shine our lights to the stranger
following the example of one born in a manger?

all we can do my friends, is pass on our light
so that we might brighten someone’s dark night
but for some, for some this is only the start,
we get a chance to warm their hearts

Hi Sven,

your light has always shined so brightly friend, and this beauty of a poem is just one more awesome example of your love for the world and I am so glad I have the pleasure of knowing you.

awesome and most tenderly
doth the light pass 'tween you and me
candle lit, forever bright
to share between us all in dark of night
in this season of the manger
simple reminder to pass to strangers
just one light, soft and warm
to touch the heart, and keep from harm

I spend too much time hiding from the world I forget to shine a light to let them know it will be all right
I loved what you wrote.
