She wanted me to paint a field of roses in soft focus to hide the imperfections of thorns. She wanted me to close my eyes when we kissed to ignore the interactions of her tongue. She begged the snowmelt to hurry and enter the river, so she wouldn't have to see dirty thaw. She closed her eyes whenever she walked forward: it was the dumbest thing I ever saw.
