Poor Rosie of Fifth Street < !signature-->alone in the dark of night hiding her lonesome heart hunger in her stomach from life's a la carte spectators only wondered why always appearing to be shy in the mirror of life she squeezed by poor Rosie with the pretty eyes her smile was not as pretty as it once was when she was young no one smiled back anyway within her heart her memories sung she remembered the engraved day her mother was taken away a twelve year old..she cried poor Rosie with the pretty eyes she was left a spectacle all on her own the same pair.. ballerina shoes her calloused feet had out grown she sat in a world, her mother had sewn her long grey pigtails.. never again to be wind blown upon the pavement she watched people hurry past her not a smile or a howdy only from the children that play a little boy gave her a posie inviting her to play ring around the rosie upon the dance floor of the park she called her home in the park she felt cozy playing ring around the rosie the children and the little boy she listened to their voices sing "ring around the rosie pocket full of posies one two three ..all fall down" to their parents she was just a clown she died quietly upon the ground in her torn pocket they found a picture of her upon the stage a famous dancer named Rose Blossom they remembered her as being awesome to their dumbfounded surpise to the children she was a blessing an angel in disguise poor Rosie with the pretty eyes A poem is never finished, only abandoned. - Paul Valery (1871-1945) [This message has been edited by Victoria (edited 12-11-2000).] |

Ok, crying here, wow, what a tug at the heartstrings...... "Always be a first rate version of your self instead of a second rate version of someone else." Marilyn Monroe |

That is a sad poem. But it seemed she did do her job in life. Poor rosie yes, but she did live once... Time flies? Say it not so, time stays we go. |

Oh my, how sad, and how poetically delivered is this story. What a commentary on life, eh? Sandra |
