Lone Wolf Howling By Richard Maxfield 6-27-98 In the cold dark forest I hear a lone wolf howl The lonely calling echo Of the stately owl Shivers run up my spine Cold bites at my ear Setting in the forest Paining for you dear The lone wolf howling Before it gets too late Looking for his comfort Calling his missing mate I’ m calling for your heart Bring it home to me Longing to feel your presence Your spirit sets me free Eyes to see through darkness Like the stately owl I must see a vision Bring you home somehow The cold that bites my ear Chills my broken heart No longer feel the warmth Now that we’re apart Restore my light my love Bring it home to me Break these binding chains Set my spirit free |

Ah, this will please many a lonely soul as the owl flies, and the lone wolf prowls well done... Karilea If I whisper, will you listen?... I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound. KRJ |

Richard, Awesome portrait of the lone wolf. His song is one of sadness and sorrow as he forever searches the land for the missing piece of his soul. Well done. Welcome to Passions. LW Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats |
