The piano plays me
in my sleep.
The notes sing to me
red and purple hues.
It draws me at midnight
when the sun is gone.
I dance for it
like a puppet drawn
by invisible strings.

I am it’s keys.
It is my soul and I
weep
for it’s mournful rhythms.

My chest heaves
while high notes sound
whirling me around
like a ballerina who has
lost
her grace.
Black notes ache
inside of my body where
bass notes take
away my will.

I dance for the piano
away from the light
the music holding me
in darkness tight
and demanding.
Fingers moving across
the keys and across
my spine
in perfect tune
with the blue black
harmony of hunger.

My hands bleed with
music so jagged
it leaves my heart in
tatters and my eyes ragged
with the strain of blindly
caressing  beautiful sound.

I’m twisted upon myself
in and out of this faithless
world moving in circles to
confess a wish to be a part
of the night
outside of the light
dancing forever to a song
that heaven
has denied and
hell
cannot recognize.

Thanks 'renity. This is the result of listening to the Matrix soundtrack all evening lol. But I like it. And I love the paino. What an instrument!

Thanks again.

This is lovely, and I would go sit at my piano now...so torn am I between the notes of the keys and the notes left for me to read...

This is very nice...

Walt: I do love music. I can sing and play a bit, and it doesn't sound half bad, even though Desperdao holds his ears every time I begin.

Sunshine: I have my keyboard a few feet from me....such choices! lol thanks for the comments

Thanks Victoria!

Rose, I think everyone should have the same opinion.

Saxoness,

Beautiful illustration of how music can mirror life at times.  I think the piano is very soothing.  Nice writing.
