Make me smile!!
Make me laugh!
Take my face
and
break it in half!
Make me scream
in surprise.
Put those tears of joy
in my eyes!
Let my woes and sorrows
disappear from view...
Make me smile!
Make me laugh!
Please do.

Make me roar
with guffaws!
I'll respond
with
thunderous applause!
Make me squeal
with delight...
Help me feel that things
are all right.
Make my belly hurt from
doubling up in two...
Make me smile!
Make me laugh!
Won't you??

I've had my share of potholes,
frustrations and what-not holes...
Life's given me the old one-two at times.
This simple wish I send out....
Dear poets, help a friend out
and lift me up with your fantastic rhymes!

Make me roll
on the floor!
Make me beg
and grovel for more!
Give me will
to survive
show me it's great
to be alive.
Grant me pleasure from your
words that never ends...
Make me smile!
Make me laugh!
My friends!!!

But I'll be back!  {~,^}

P.S....just posted something in prose, guaranteed to make you cry, just in case you get cross-wise and there's too much laughing going on....

yes, shameless plug...

Have fun!

Well gosh Balladeer I wish you'd have dropped in and read the poem I posted called "The Haircut"  I think it might have made you smile but if you did'nt well we'll just have to try something else.

Two religious preachers approached the front door of this house and rang the bell.
A small boy opened the door a crack and looked out.
One of the preahers asked the boy if his mother was home.
The young boy whispered very low ...could hardly hear him..."yes she is."
One of the men said. "can we speak to her?"
The boy whispered, "no she's busy."
"Well then is your father home?"
The boy whispers, "Yes"
"Can we speak to him?"
Boy says, "no he's busy."
"Well is there anyone else here we could speak to?" queried one man.
"there's a policeman here." the boy replied.
"can we speak to him?"
Boy whispers, "no he's busy."
Gettin a bit frustrated one man asks again, "is there anyone else here we could speak to?"
Boy whispers, "yes there's a fireman."
"Can we speak to him?"
Boy whispers, "no he's busy."
The preacher just beside himself says, "what on earth are all these people busy doing?"
Boy whispers....."They're lookin for me."

deer, this reminded me of one of mine...

Smile

let loose that smile
don't worry, I'll catch it,
but if you don't let go
I'll tickle you and snatch it

and if I can't get it
by the bottom of your feet
or your ribs or tummy
then I'll yank you from your seat
I will take you in my arms
put the mistletoe above you
kiss you smack-dab on your hidden smile
and tell you that I love you

and if that doesn't work
if that still ain't right
I'll rip your clothes off
and start a pillow fight
and we'll make love hard at first
and then slow it to a creep
and satisfied, you'll drift off
I know you smile in your sleep  )

There once was a poet from the sunshine state...
cook him spam...hed clean his plate
tell him ya had bugs ...he'd be on his way
ask him to play a round of golf...would make his day

He could pen us a verse of comedy
or write a sonnet that would enchant me
he can make us laugh with his rhyme
make us sigh with a love poem sublime

now all he asks if for a simple smile
and to laugh with glee for a little while
I sure dont think thats too much to ask
that shouldnt be such a difficult task

we're all poets...we can write him a verse
to help him break this blues curse...
make him happy as a little clam
write him a poem about kisses of spam

what would it take to put smiles on your face?
a huge wallet fat full of cash?
or would you prefer - a kittycat mewing,
or reading you some Ogden Nash?

what kind of joking do you want to hear?
a riddle? or some sort of pun?
purrrhaps 'twould be better to bypass the gags -
and simply move on to the fun!

this feline can dart in between all your words
and come up with some silly one-liner,
or string you a thread on a ball of some twine,
and meet you to eat at the diner!

a CATastrophe, 'deer, it would be if you frowned,
and this kitten would like to assist you.
put a smile on your face? is that what you'd like?
well, how could this kitty resist you?

i know! i will send you a small book to read
while you're sitting there under a tree --
and hopefully you'll have a smile on your face
as you're reading and thinking of me

or we could just listen to some meeeeewwwwsic?

Balladeer
I don't know if I'm any use
a farmer's wife is current muse

or you could smile if you looked
on Balladeer which I was hooked

or perhaps a newer style
I could write to make to smile

I'll work on it, my promise true
anything my "dear," for you.

Please, please don't go to a blue funk
I'll try hard you little spunk

There once was a fellow named 'Deer,
Who requested some light-hearted cheer,
To his rescue we came,
Calling out his sweet name,
So 'deer Michael, lean close, lend an ear.

***

(adapted to rhyme just for you,
from a joke I heard today)

A gentleman was walking
Down the street and stopped to view,
Two workers near the sidewalk,
So methodic were these two.

One man would dig a lovely hole,
Then move ahead in line,
The other followed right behind,
And filled it every time.

They carried on like this a while,
From one hole to the next,
Once dug, the other filled the hole,
The passerby perplexed ...

He watched another moment,
Then he asked the one work man,
Why do you dig so hard like this,
I just don't get this plan!

The worker paused, and looked at him,
It's simple, can't you see?
The other worker called in sick ...
That guy who plants the trees.

***

And just so ya know ... have I told you lately how wonderful you are?
Many, many hugs and smiles to you my friend!

Best wishes and cheer for happier days ahead,
/Kit

A duel of wits
I would never win
But just maybe I can get a grin
The laughter sometimes gets a little thin
But it is always easy to get a grin.

I think your poem was great

I'll hold you down and tickle you
until you beg for mercy
laughing in hysterics
you'll beg to be set free.

Then we'll wrestle on the floor
until we're not laughing anymore.

Oops.  Slipped into another emoticon!

Hi ya 'deer!...It's me, one of them potholes!

Oh poor old frowning Balladeer,
Take a look in your old mirror,
Laugh at things we see in you,
A mirrored image is so true.

Think of that sailor poet,
All his poems so sweet,
And of course your buddy Toerag,
With a rag-wrapped 'round his feet.

Laugh it up exterminator,
Enjoy your days of ease,
Cuz Toerag's coming back next week,
To cut and play and tease...

I'm calling far
And calling near
Trying to find
Smiles for Deer!
Sending out
An APB
For the smile giver -
Where is he?
For I can wave
And I can nag
But can't give smiles
Like that Toerag! *G*

(And you do realize that my search for him is completely for your benefit and just to cheer you and I'm being unselfish... and would you care to buy some swamp land? *G*

Well 'Deer ~ Is it snowing down there???? If not, then that should be cause for a smile or two, 'cause it's snowing here, alot, and it's slippery, and I'm gonna have to let the dog out and I'll probably fall and get all wet and cold and then there'll be bruises, and the dog will slobber all over me, and ............ if all that doesn't help, just look at that picture Charisma posted for you........Definite smiles.... Balladeer~

I've had about all that I can take
of that funky blue mood you're wearing
I'm gonna go to my note pad
and this one I will be sharing

I once found you in a 'blue funk' mood
So I wrote a ditty
But you recovered so quickly
I didn't post it - a pity !

So here it is
hope it does the trick
and if not -
I'll be back real quick.

The 'Blue Funk' Blues
~*Marge Tindal*~
(written 5/15/00)

I miss ya' babe.
What's this junk ?
You're telling me
ya' got the dreaded 'blue funk'.

Is that a trend
you're willing to mend ?
Or is it a malady
that brings the end ?

I think perhaps
I've got a cure
for the 'blue funk' fungus
that is among us.

A can of Vienna Sausage
pop-the-top
Into your mouth
go ahead and plop
Just one bite
if you're able
then put the rest
out on the table.

You'll know for sure
ya' got the 'blue funk' blues
when someone else
steals your sausage-eating muse.

I didn't say
it was poetically correct
but it sure beats frowning
all to heck !

'When you're down and out,
when you're on the street
when evening falls so hard
I will comfort you.'

Easy to say, make me laugh or smile
Your request drove my mind wild
Up all night writing note after note
(Such strange thoughts, this did provoke)

I thought of friends made on the forum,
My lines, how they'd abhor them
Laughed to myself 'bout 5 this mornin'
As into shreds, I tore 'em

Suddenly, I broke out in a roar.
YOU, this was intended for!
I felt so relieved, smiling at last.
For this, I'm thankful you asked!

Oh my 'Deer
I could make you smile
but only if
you've got a while

I could do
a 'Booty Dance'
you'll laugh so hard
you'll pee your pants

Or I could sing
and soon you'd see why
with just one verse
you'd laugh till you cry

I'd find a way
to put a smile on your cute mug
then wrap you up
in friendship's hug

Hope you're smiling soon!
