My Lover, My Friend, My Life Step by step, I walk the chill of the night air, my flesh aquatinted with the sting of cold, yet my soul is blanketed in warmth. The eyes of comfort hold me plainly in sight, as I trail the castle grounds, my brave knight, aware of my heart, stands as sentry from his station in the watchtower. Now, morning light pours toward me, and I wake recalling my dream, I have no castle nor a knight, but I have more. Your heart, your passion and your soul. At the hour I needed you most, your compassion rescued me, giving me life. Reeling in despair, your benevolent heart gave me hope, and soon wrapped me in love. My lover, my friend, my life, your compassion washed over me, and your heart realized it’s love for me ...and your eyes give me strength to view what is really there and now I truly see my knight, my castle. Annie Look within the heart of a poet, and you will see a reflection of their soul. |

True love gives us all that is needed. A beautiful poem for a very deserving companion I'd say. |
