State of constant confusion!

0 posted 2000-10-09 07:19 PM

As the light of a new day dawns
And the promise of tranquility speaks
I am forced to sit and wonder
"What has life, in store for me?"
I used to be a proud man
Without worries or even fears
Now I sit here all alone
Writing, through worthless tears

Time and life just caught up with me
Or that's what some would say
That I lived my life way too fast
So, now, for that I must pay
If by that they mean chasing a dream
Then I shall pay all cost
If memory serves me the saying says
'Better to have loved and lost'

So condemn me if you wish
And I shall plead guilty every time
Though these times may be rough
It doesn't change what I know in my mind
I know my love is out there somewhere
As I can still hear her say "Good-bye"
She's the dream I am still chasing
And the reason that I try

Oh Jeff
This is absoultely heartbreaking yet so beautiful. True I've never read a poem of yours I didn't like...but I think this one is my favorite of yours. Writing straight from the heart and soul. You brought a tear to my eye and have gave me some thoughts to chew on tonight. As always, wonderful writing!
Take care.

Jeffrey,

Thoughts from the heart here . . . so beautiful and full of hope.  Don't ever give up the dream my friend.  Nice to see you again.

Jeff

I can feel your emotions of hurt and lonliness coming through each verse.  Very nicely done.

This isn't a plea for help or even understanding. It is, however, a realization of the truth. I now understand I made some mistakes and I am willing to admit that. I have learned some valuable lessons from all this as well. So, just know that I am content with my life at the present. Thank you all for your concerns.

I enjoyed reading this..I know what you are saying...we have some control over our choices but not much control over the consequences of our choices...sometimes we are faced with hard choices and when the day of reckoning comes we are not sure if we have won or lost...only time will tell that story...take care of your heart...James

Jeffrey,
So good to hear from you, this was truly heartbreaking, it's what poetry is, the very hoenst truth in words.

awesome poem Jeffrey, so much to life isn't there and yes we all do make mistakes but that's just how life is so you've penned this well.

Sheesh!  I haven't been able to get in here, and you've left (sort of)!  What happened?  If you can e-mail me, that would be great (link2what@hotmail.com).  This poem is haunting, yet has hope, Jeffrey.  Your writing is wonderful, and I'm sad that more of your works aren't in here.  I, too, have been bogged down with other commitments, so I rarely get in here (right now I am unofficially using the computer at work...shhh...).  Anyway, I hope you continue to post.  You're just too darn good to stop writing!

Never is a tear worthless, just an inspiratin to put those emotions down upon paper, to face them, overcome them and contiune to grow.
