The western wind is blowing, marking patterns through my hair, < !signature-->as I sit alone, watching rolling October skies No longer warm and gentle, the breeze that blows from there cooler and much stronger now as it whips across my eyes. I catch the smell of wood smoke rushing past me on the breeze the sweetness of the hickory signals soon the summers end, and listening to the music in the branches of the trees the rustling of the aspens and the whispers that they send. The clanging of the wind chimes, they sound as if at sea, the snapping of the flag standing straight out in the air, the geese are in formation flying high above of me and shivering, I realize the day has turned from fair. I hasten to my room and pull a blanket from my bed returning to the out-of-doors, I heed the seasons' call, and curling up inside my quilt, my senses to be fed awaiting its arrival soon, the coming of the fall. jk What better way to become immortal than to wake up each day and write? This is lovely Joannak, wonderful imagery enjoyed it "If my words could blanket the skies and fill every corner and crevice of this earth, still this won't be enough" "Maree Russo" |

Divine. I love this it is so pastoral... yet in a contemporary sense. The clanging of the wind chimes, they sound as if at sea, the snapping of the flag standing straight out in the air, the geese are in formation flying high above of me and shivering, I realize the day has turned from fair. great verse... Well done! K "He looked across the silky surface of the Severn... it was a famously difficult river with fierce tides..." From Jack Maggs |

Oh, YUMMY! I just gobbled this one up! You've got all my senses perking, and I love the fall so much too - my favorite season, I do believe, though I am passionate about snow - but the sights, smells, sounds, everything about fall is just such an exotic treat for me - and plus, I curl in my quilt like that too! I think we must really think alike about this, and you wrote it so very well! I haven't seen your work before, but I'll be on the look-out for your name now! |

Joanna, it seems to me you have found the way to a few hearts with this. So many love the sights and smells of autumn, me included. I loved this. Dee |
