Although he whispers sweet
with poems that ring true
I still hear your voice,
my mind still pictures you.

The changing of the seasons
seem lusterless these days
knowing you won't be there
coloring autumn's haze.

When winter rolls around
and I decorate the tree
I'll be dreaming of you
smiling here with me.

When stars become supernovas
the earth a darkened moon
I'll finally forget
if I forget that soon.

One of the terrific things I've always enjoyed about this site is the way we feed off of each other's creativity and inspiration. You did very well with this one, Corinne, and I am complimented by your thought

Core,

a very beautiful response poem from a very beautiful poet.

Love,
Rick

I'll add a new comment to Balladeer's poem and bring it back up with this one.

Core,

your response poem reminded me of an old response poem of mine that turned into a collaboration.

   Still Night
~
Does the wind still blow
my touch
across your face,
and sweep the hair
from your eyes?
~
.           The wind that blows across me now
.           blows touches that I can't recall,
.           and yet they're etched inside.
~
Can your mind still gaze
upon sunsets
fresh from memory,
without sensing my presence
in each fading ray?
~
.           The sunsets here have beauty, but
.           the warmth has set before the sun
.           has made it's daily slide.
~
Will the moon still hold
the same moment
when wrapped in blankets
we tiptoed in flesh
to bathe in the oceans tide?
~
.           Those silver beams reach out to me -
.           they play upon my memories -
.           they warm my thirsty flesh.
~
When still night approaches
is it my caress
you remember that satisfied
the innermost part
of your spirit?
~
.           I still, at night, recall your touch -
.           how tender passion fed my blush
.           and thrilled my soul with rest.
~
Is it my name you still whisper
when drawn
into the bed of love making,
and is it my face you see reflected
in her eyes?
~
.           Oh, yes!  The nights claim such faint sounds
.           when I breathe out that precious noun,
.           and see you in her eyes.
~
