Listening to every heart

                        The Promise

                          still upright
                          thy green bud's coverlet
                          nigh this least
                          split in fringe
                          and deepest pink
                          showing through

                          this unbirth
                          of thee, after first hoarfrost,
                          thy last rose
                          of summer,

                          to stand,

                          as if but yet
                          a promise,
                          before thy nearing of
                          winter's cloak

                          such is a promise ~

                          so I shall not
                          mourn thee,
                          stillborn beauty

                          lest I dispel the
                          chance of pact

                          'twixt you and I

                          but with delicate
                          patience
                          await

                          as,
                          come spring,

                          I shall glance
                          at the show of
                          peace in
                          pinkest yellow

                          which
                          shall again with pomp
                          evince hazel orbs
                          that all promises
                          shall come

                          to those who wait.

Let me be the first to say how this flows from one line to the other.  IT is a wonderful poetic offering!

Karilea,
I have always admired your poetry, but of late you have produced some works of astounding beauty and quality, which seem to get better and better, if possible. You are very talented, and this one is another exquisite piece.

The hopes and promises of tomorrows visions will find their beauty in the coming of the spring. Though they may sleep dormantly in the winter as it seems they are still alive and shining in the depths of their hearts and soul.  Wonderful piece from you on this Saturday.

Irish Rose, thank you, yes, "flowing" is the right feel for this...

Elizabeth, this is a comment I shall cherish, thank you...

Mark, you are looking into the very nucleus of the meaning, thank you...
