In Brandywine Park - a warm fall day The meadow is empty- I've not much to say I laid myself down to look at the sky Chewing on rye grass wondering "Who am I?" Clouds like cruise ships sail on overhead Destinations romantic while on my grass bed Sounds of the forest make tunes in my ears Rhythm of crickets alleys all my fears A counterpoint then from the edge of the stream The 'ribbit' of frogs interrupting my dream Sweetness then flows from the song of a lark To soften frogs' voices - I love this park Symphonic music unheard in the halls The Grand Opera House gets no curtain calls Warbling of birds, cicadas' ratchet Nowhere else heard, nowhere can match it The grass is so tall - I'm not seen from the road You'd need stand right o'er me, I hide like a toad And I think then how lovely to have you beside me Your hands taking mine - to hold me and guide me Spend the afternoon watching clouds drifting by Listening to each other you hear the soft cry Of my voice in longing, harmonizing the scene To close your arms 'round me, my kisses you glean "God's in His heaven, all's right with the world" In this tranquil scene, all His beauty unfurled ~You have to have a dream so you can get up in the morning. ~ Billy Wilder |

Vicky- As an former Delawarean - I knew this would ring your bell - - thank you Charisma- your words inspire me to keep writing - Thank you Martie- Sometimes - one has to get back to basics - as Wordsworth said: "the world is too much with us..." Thank you Karilea- I count myself blessed that I can come here and find nature always peaceful and refreshing - Thank you Paula- I'm sure you'd find the same peace here that I do - Thank you |

Dale - It's one thing when a female responds to me - I'm flattered to be sure -But when I hear nice words from a obviously heterosexual male - I'm especially impressed - thank you. Thank you |
