“I’ve been there, and I’ve done that”! I heard a cowboy say. To a youngster at the rodeo- Out Arizona way... “I used to ride the rough stock, They say I used to shine- I’m stove up now, and older, And way beyond my prime. I know you’re feelin’ cocky- I see it in your stride... With more than your fair share of- That youthful cowboy pride. So if you got a minute... I’d say a thing or two- That just might make a dif’rence- Make a winner out of you. You ride them bulls just like a bronc- You have to watch the head! You got to ride him every jump, Or you will wind up dead. Stay right up there atop your hand- Don’t get behind the bull! If you will do the things I say... You’ll keep your pockets full. One other thing I’d tell you... Don’t think of gittin’ hitched... ‘Cause home, and her, and apple pie- And rodeo don’t mix. So stay to single harness- Take good care of your gear... You just might make the Finals, In just a few more years”. He hawked and spat, and turned away- To fade into the crowd- Although he seemed to limp a bit, He stood up straight and proud. “I’ve been there, and I’ve done theat. And you can do it too- If I was ten years younger- I think I’d go with you”. "You come into this life crying, while the world rejoices. Your goal in life should be to live it in such a fashion, as to leave this world rejoicing, |

To be younger and have the wisdom of our older years. Young, they need to live and learn for themselves. Ya can tell em, but ya can't make em listen. Great poem GS! <*\\\>< I know not what the future holds, but I know Who holds the future. |

I agree with WhtDove, communicate and talk to the younger generation, do tell them of your wisdom and hopefully they'll listen Abra "So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains And we never even know we have the key." -Already Gone, The Eagles |

Gunslinger, Perfect meter and rhyme and an obvious knowledge of rodeo. These words would make great lyrics for a country and western song. Very nice job. fh |
