Oh Night of Promise

©2000  Christopher Ward

grayed, removed
fettered and sighed

oh night of promise,
oh dreaming peace,
why must be borne
this blight of cold...

alone

oh night of promise,
oh morning far,
why must this soon
arrive so distant...
still,

alone

oh night of promise,
oh slender moon,
cry for me this e’en
shivered ‘neath your ire

I witness the peace
the hopes you preach
I feel your sadism,
your joy in my pain

and I know,
oh, I know thee
well

oh night of promise,
oh promise of peace,
release your slave,
render time free

allow me,
oh night of promise,
to be no longer...

alone

May your night of promise be as beautiful as your poetry. Then it will be exquisite

You know C...somehow I can relate to this one.

oh night of promise,
oh morning far,
why must this soon
arrive so distant...
still

this part...yeah. Soon isn't always so soon is it?

Very sensitive writing...

And you know what? I even like the 'thee'...Miss Contemporary goes Olde...

Hey - Have a sigh for this one

    K

p.s - I did the 'small' thing just cause I could...believe me? Heh...

This has a very ethereal quality to it, the words are mystical, magical, and it has a haunting to it.  It's not just the picture, it's the words and the order you place them, they almost breathe off of the page.  I am really impressed by this one, Christopher.

Now these are the words, the heart, and soul of a poet.  MR. CHRISTOPHER.

Christopher this is beautiful, and I hope my night of promise turns out better than this one seemed to. Take care.

Well well well my friend, nice to see you drop in and grace us with your presence!   I might also add that this piece is much to my liking. You spoke so much from my own feelings it's almost scary.
Being alone sucks, even if you're not physically alone.
Someone once told me....you can sit right across the room from someone and yet feel like they are a million miles away!
I'm there, every day.
Thanks for sharing with us Chris.... ~*hugs*~

Thank you all for being so kind and generous. I know I don't get to reply to others very often. I try to read, but you know how life goes sometimes...

I really appreciate the warmth from all of you, my friends when I do write the occasional poem. Hugs to every one of you.

O Christopher, I came across this jewel, and I too must compliment you for such eloquent writing, but really Serenity sums it up the best when it comes to a reply to this...

Sigh ... Chris, this was just lovely. Such longing and desire woven through these lines, beseeching the night for promise to ease the pain of loneliness, beautifully written!

Best wishes,
/Kit
