(Not great poetic form - just morning musings) I wake early and take joy in the light. Folding in my window announcing the day No matter my aches I'm refreshed by hope I turn to the window, watch squirrels and birds Hear him sing on a branch proclaiming his love See her scamper the phone wires Wary eyes look at me, does she pity me here? Confined inside and to the ground? The branches only now are turning The street awakens, starters cranking Grocery bags trudge by homeward The wail of a siren in the distance Chug of the diesel freight rolling by Enter the shower I feel water's healing Cleansing my eyes of sleep's residue Washing away dreams of night love Caressing my fantasies of shared shower for two With clean teeth and fresh face Pour my juice, get my Centrum Coffee begun, hear it drip in the pot Trucks climb the hill, their ponderous churning I join them on foot for the morning's first news Breath deeply the air laden with growing Moist earth and leaves still warmed by the sun And I remember the day Is another present Greet the neighbors walking dogs Say hello to Digger and Anastasia They stand still for ears scratches Watch the inchworm pacing his leaf Sun's reaching down now Painting the pavement City canyon shadows Slowing fading from sight Yesterdays faded - when I drove in the dark It's paid in full now, walking with ease I can listen to the lark And do what I please No longer measure weeks with tankfuls I raise my eyes, Offer simple thankfuls Found new work but at my pace Doing my choice -at my place Time to think, to laugh and pray Write my novel, seize the day Play my music, sing my song Live with laughter, the whole day long ~You have to have a dream so you can get up in the morning. ~ Billy Wilder |

"Found new work but at my pace Doing my choice -at my place Time to think, to laugh and pray Write my novel, seize the day Play my music, sing my song Live with laughter, the whole day long" What a wonderful, spirit filled morning, Bill...thanks for reminding me to remember, today is another present, like your meandering mind. In the dew of little things, the heart finds its morning and is refreshed. (ee cummings) |

Morning is without a doubt the very best time of day, isn't it?... You've done a wonderful job describing it here, Wil.. |

Mr Yeats, if this is not poetry, I'll become the green eyed monster. Great write. Kethry "It is the image in the mind that links us to lost treasures; but it is the loss that shapes the image, gathers the flowers weaves the garland."- |

Oh, this is really spectacular!! How I love the mornings, and having a fresh start on a brand new day. It sounds as if your mornings are peaceful......thank you for giving me a glimpse into your day!! Today is a gift.... That is why they call it 'the Present'! |

I turn to the window, watch squirrels and birds Hear him sing on a branch proclaiming his love See her scamper the phone wires Wary eyes look at me, does she pity me here? Confined inside and to the ground? - I have often thought this myself, that they are the lucky ones, their houses are provided, plenty of food, they do have to defend their territories, but other than that, they are free and we have become imprisoned by modern trappings of life. Well said! Corinne |
