Inn Between Inn Between the acid tears of long ago And the liberating laughter yet to come. Inn Between the paralyzing fear of hurts anew And the mindless joy of loving trust. Inn Between the consoling hugs of friends And the warm embrace so sorely missed. Inn Between awkward words of consolation And awkward moments of anticipation. Inn Between the bitter sorrow of years lost And the promise of new and brighter smiles. Inn Between the grating of self-doubt And the burning confidence fueled by another. Inn Between we stood, live or die, Cross or stand our ground. Inn Between the past and forevermore Where two hearts began to beat again. (Note: Mis-spelling is intentional. The Inn Between is a resturaunt as well as an integral part of this poem) < !signature--> Some men see things as they are and ask "WHY ?" I see things as they could be and ask "WHY NOT ?" Your poem is quite striking. I enjoyed the play on words and the note at the bottom told what I was already thinking but I thank you for the clarity you gave it. |

Nicely penned Lonely Stranger! I enjoyed the flow in this, and the repetition as the focal point in this piece. The double meaning throughout is very nice. I found myself reading it again to take in different views. Well done! ![]() Best wishes, /Kit |

Thanks Tears & Kit & Marge, My poem is about a place in time & in space. A place where people cross over from the hurts of old relationships into the light of feeling the good things again. In my case, that place happened to be named "The Inn Between" I had hoped it was that place for her as well, but alas........ I bet everyone can remember where they were and who they were with when they crossed over. And co-incidentally, this seems to be the place where I cross over from "Junior Member" to "Member" [This message has been edited by The Lonely Stranger (edited 10-01-2000).] |
