that breeze from off the shore |

I remember her breath matched mine and the ocean's specifically, years ago: that night under a sky held by silver oak boughs. It happened for me and it happened for her: the wind scolding our youth and vows. That kiss under crowning shadows of leaves. It happened to be a freezing night: the breeze pressing our clothing close, ocean-salted from off the darkening shore. It knew our plans before we could see. The warmth and cold of you and me. The c'est la vie that had to be. The sand, small stones, at the edge of the sea. Some songs you thought were meant for you now sound dumb. Some songs you could never understand now want to hold your hand. Some songs that touched you then still touch you like a friend. Listen to them with celebration. Put away the end. |

Great poem. You really captured the essence of bittersweet memories and a bright look at the present. Melissa |

Melissa, thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed. S'en, Hey, it's a gift. Who fell apart on the 'e' circus this time? (as you can tell, I've been avoiding icq like a bad cold -- that thing always crashes on me) E me so I can bore you senseless with the Brian Wilson concert I went to. Yes, you now know too much about me. Mike |

J.M., Hey, we all need words like these to sort out the sometimes lousiness of life. I'm glad you enjoyed. And did you really mean to write "man on man"? Mike |
