Neglect

I’ve come to think neglect
Is behind as many breakups
As religion, politics or money
So who’s to blame? Who get the pups?

Sadly (Maybe God’s plan) it’s passion
Brings two together bound in lust
Instead of friendship growing slow
Fed and nurtured by a lasting trust

But either way neglect can happen
With work the major claim we feel
We come home wanting rest and comfort
Or break from child raising’s toil

So we expect the other’s loving
To take the place we abdicate
Not realizing weariness in partner
The one in courting we’d placate

The baby’s fed changed and bedded
The dishes done its time for rest
Two bodies weary sit on sofa
Both hoping love will be the best

He thinks she’ll welcome or be seductive
She thinks he’ll know how her day’s been
And put forth the extra effort
And then in bed her heart he’ll win.

So both neglect and habit deadens
The passions once so strong and true
Quietly the marriage mortar
Crumbling a union like rotten glue

Love the kids? Sure! There’s no question
Money? Never, not where it’s at
What remains is hurt not passion
Something died and that is that.

There are places inside our souls -
that have never been touched.
There are places inside our hearts -
that need to be loved this much.

There is way too much truth here in this little piece...

Karilea
If I whisper, will you listen?...
I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound.

Well written, and so sadly true.

Live for love. Without love, you don't live.

Excellent!!!!!!  The 2nd stanza, especially, is outstanding.  It's extremely sad what we lose, and yet again, what we sometimes never even have before it's lost.

To capture and live a moment is truly living

Bill...I know what you say is true many times..but I feel that love, if it is truly love, keeps on despite times like these as change happens to people, it is inevitable...but love abides.

Paula - sometimes - it indicates two feeling so neglected they fail to see - the love they built their union on - then it's the most sad Thank you

Janet Marie-
I'm not so wise as experienced _ Thank you

Karilea - Charisma -
I wish it were not so true - Thank you

Interloper -
if enough love remains - - sometimes two can see the way to rebuild - Thank you

Dreamkeeper-
If the foudation is built on sand - that's the worst - Thanks

Martie -
I somehow knew you'd see see hope in this sad scenario - - I too feel the hope should be there - but finding the way out can be very difficult -Thank you

Good Bi

What a day..! [^@#$%*+].
I feel like Sheol is druged me into an early
grave.  Somehow after I had read a few lines from
a night before I found it, should I say, fascinating
because last night I was all ready for today
(spiritually alert, wide awake)

ready to take on the
place. I remember
too I was enthusiastic
for it to greet me. Now that
it’s here and I’ve met you I’m not
so sure... However I am trying to be optimistic,

looking for the favorable. I guess that’s easy for people as
copious as the big Ds. advocates but with my little freedom
of verse, I can only confess that I’m a day closer to rest.

It’s getting easier to express such gnawing
loneliness with phrase, but I
suppose it’s better I shan't
for this moment. It’s actually been
hard for me to keep up an optimism for such
futures & what was in it. I originally thought, and still

do, that this is a spiritual thing. However, even with my
many years of Biblical experience, I’ve gotten
slushy and in no way ready for such
an incident. In fact I don’t
believe I thought this
kind of rivalry
could’ve happened

and I regret you ever
experienced it. Under other
circumstances I could have
maybe thought it could
be likened unto
such. But as
it is an
adversary
has again been
thoroughly articulate.

if you found the time I thank
you and if not all the same

good bi

thank you Bill for your
honest words you've
been an honest
friend

good friends best finds

thanks, dale

For a reason unknown to either my husband or me, we have both been cut off at the same time, from posting any new poetry at Passions.  But for some reason, we are allowed to continue contributing comments.
So I must say, if we are cast out, good-bye, my friend!  We care about you.
