Merging, Thanks for Braking In our lifetime many gifts come our way Some gifts acknowledged, some taken for granted One lucky day I received a present along the road of life The most precious gift ever sent, a sign that said “Merge” I’m thankful for that sign that wisely guided me To merge with your path, headed in the same direction If ever our paths should meet a fork and split Hold tight to my hand so I may swerve and share yours I’m aware of potholes and bumps in the road The dead ends and detours I may have to take In the end, it will be well worth the wait For a ride that’s smooth, familiar and safe Construction will pop up without any warn Maintenance and TLC will be routine A dent or a scratch, there’s sure to be some Patience and care will make sure it still runs At times something new may catch our eye Tempting as it may be we’ll roll on by We’ll look again at what we’ve got Knowing nothing new could ever compare In time we’re sure to hear a putter Slowly roll to a stop and pull over We’ll take each other’s hand with smile As we simply just walk that last wonderful mile You can give without loving but you cannot love without giving There is no danger of developing eye-strain from looking on the bright side of things |

What a wonderful poem you've written. How much nicer is this journey through life when you have someone special to travel with.... Nice job! |
