Swift summer's bounty fills the larder
'gainst the frost which comes now harder
with each passing of the sun
there's scarce the light to get things done

The fire is laid to fend the weather
it's warmth calls flocks of thoughts together
a sense of urgency is felt
as outside frozen raindrops pelt ...

the ground to bounce suspended brief
above fall's resting place for leaf
who's summer job has been fulfilled
that with his brethren cloak the hills ...

around my cabin in the wood
the concrete of this neighborhood
has little influence on me
for I have chosen not to see ...

the steel of it's urban heart
my words keep it a world apart
from eyes that gaze on paper sheaf
that may when filled stay dis-belief...

of scenes pastoral in the hood
and summer not yet gone for good

two worlds apart, yet one, from a poet indeed, my friend, as only a poet can see the beauty behind the facade.
